Description

Station-grade, hyperlocal weather at your lake — streamed straight into your Lake Pulse dashboard. The Weather Station offering is built on the proven Tempest platform: a solar-powered, solid-state sensor with no moving parts that installs in minutes and tracks more than a dozen atmospheric variables — temperature, humidity, wind speed and gusts, rainfall, barometric pressure, solar radiation and UV, and lightning activity with strike distance up to 25 miles. The current Tempest '26 hardware adds bigger solar panels, a redesigned charging system, a replaceable battery, and upgraded temperature, humidity, and rain sensors.

Best of all, Tempest is already integrated with Lake Pulse — making it easy to fold weather into your lake's health and safety program. There's no custom wiring of data feeds or third-party workarounds; your station connects and its observations flow into your dashboard from day one.

Three SKUs let you match the station to the user and the site. The Basic station — the Tempest Home Weather Station — is the right call for most individual Lake Pulse subscribers. The two PRO stations are built on TempestOne, the commercial-licensed platform meant for lake associations, HOAs, marinas, and community or multi-site monitoring programs, with a WiFi option and a Cellular option for sites beyond WiFi range.

What problem does this solve?

Lake conditions are intensely local, and the weather data most people rely on isn't. Most weather apps and TV forecasts are based on public data, primarily from stations installed long ago at regional airports — miles and a microclimate away from your shoreline. That gap matters when the numbers are supposed to explain what's happening on your water: the wind and solar radiation that drive stratification and bloom risk, the rainfall that loads nutrients and storm runoff into the lake, and the lightning and gust data that determine whether it's safe to be on the dock.

A Weather Station closes that gap. For an individual subscriber, it answers everyday questions about recreation, safety, and local conditions with data measured at the lake instead of at the nearest airport. For a lake association or community program, it does more: it becomes the meteorological backbone of a broader lake-health network, tying real weather inputs to indicators like algae bloom risk, storm runoff, and swimmer safety — which is where the Weather Station stops being backyard data and starts being lake intelligence.

And if you're serious about producing more data on your lake to reach health and safety goals, you might consider adding a PRO to your lake. A single home station tells you what's happening at your shoreline; a TempestOne PRO is built to anchor a larger, community-scale effort — more coverage, organizational data sharing, and a commercial-grade foundation for the kind of sustained monitoring that real lake-health targets require.

What's included?

Every station ships ready to deploy and stream into Lake Pulse:

  • Tempest sensor device — solar-powered, solid-state, no moving parts; measures temperature, humidity, wind (speed, direction, gusts), rain (onset, intensity, duration, accumulation), pressure, UV/brightness/solar radiation, and lightning
  • Connectivity hub appropriate to the SKU (WiFi hub for Basic and PRO-WiFi; cellular connectivity for PRO-Cellular)
  • Flat base & pole mount for post, dock, or piling installation
  • Onboarding into your Lake Pulse dashboard, with the parameter set mapped to the platform's time-series visualizations
  • Data services: Basic includes lifetime access to Tempest data, forecasting, and API integrations with no subscription fees; PRO includes TempestOne Essential — premium Nearcast data and forecasting services licensed for commercial use

The three SKUs

Basic — Tempest Home Weather Station (WiFi only)

  • Connectivity: WiFi only (requires a 2.4GHz network)
  • Best for: individual homeowners purchasing and setting up at their own lakefront. For most individual subscribers, this station provides all the weather data they need — and it's significantly less expensive, making it the easier purchase for a single property.

PRO — TempestOne Weather Station (WiFi)

  • Connectivity: WiFi
  • Best for: lake associations, HOAs, marinas, businesses, and community monitoring programs operating at a site with WiFi. Commercial-licensed, with organizational data sharing and support built for larger-scale deployments.

PRO — TempestOne Weather Station (Cellular)

  • Connectivity: Cellular data
  • Best for: organizations and remote shoreline sites that need to connect over cellular instead of WiFi — the right fit for pilings, far docks, and multi-site networks where no WiFi reaches.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Universal Mount — MSRP $49.95
  • Power Booster Accessory — $39.95/each
  • Power Booster Accessory Cable Extension Kit — $9.95
  • Bird Deterrent Accessory — MSRP $6.95

Before you order: Contact us to set up your data subscription so it starts on the right day. Coordinating activation with your install date means your time-series record begins clean — no gaps, no wasted subscription days, and your weather data flowing into Lake Pulse from the moment the station goes live.

Results

Once your Weather Station is live, you can view your time-series data in the Analytics Hub under Trends — your weather observations plotted over time, right alongside your water-quality story. From there, subscribers get:

  • Hyperlocal, real-time conditions for your exact shoreline — not a regional or airport approximation
  • The meteorological drivers of lake health (solar radiation, wind, rainfall) feeding directly into bloom, stratification, runoff, and turnover analysis
  • On-water safety awareness through live wind, gust, and lightning-distance data
  • A continuous time-series record in the Analytics Hub that strengthens every diagnostic bundle and supports trend analysis across seasons and years
  • Dashboard-native data — weather lives alongside the water-quality story in Lake Pulse, not in a separate app
  • For PRO / TempestOne adopters: a commercial-licensed foundation for a community-scale lake health and safety network, with organizational data sharing across multiple sites
