Whilst AI is making it easier to summarize PDFs or extract some level of information, lake data, including physical, biological, chemical, hydrological, and watershed is still a labor-intensive process. Reports, surveys, and studies often come in different formats, from different dates, stakeholders, and locations around the lake. Because this work requires technical knowledge of limnology and monitoring data, it cannot easily be outsourced to junior staff — and is not yet the kind of “mop & bucket” cleanup that AI can reliably handle.
